Rain in Cape Verde is rare and often very welcome. The rainy season produces occasional storms between July and October, these clear up quickly making way for more sunshine.

The islands can be windy as they are exposed to trade winds from the atlantic ocean. The wind is a refreshing break from the hot sun and provides great conditions for windsurfing and kitesurfing.

Winds can be strong at times however the Cape Verde Islands do not get hurricanes.

If the sun gets too much for you the varying terrain on the islands offer milder temperatures.

The inland and mountainous regions of Fogo and Santa Antao have pleasant temperatures which create ideal conditions for trekking.
